This basic notebook has modern specs, but the price tag is somewhat high given that cheaper alternatives exist. The Acer Aspire 5742384G5 is a competent basic notebook that is on the expensive side of things at $699. For about $100 less it’d be a real bargain though, and many alternatives with pretty many identical specs turn up around $599 or less commonly. A first generation Intel Core i3-380M (2.53GHz) processor provides enough computing muscle for most moderate intensity productivity applications.
There’s also 4GB of RAM to aid in multi-tasking and general system performance, so despite being a bit expensive the 5742384G5 is at least versatile. If the 320GB hard drive were larger than the current price tag would be acceptable, but as it stands there are other basic notebooks with the same specs listed so far but a price tag closer to $600. As might be expected the screen is 15.6in with a pixel resolution of 1,366x768; not good, not bad, just normal. It’s the identical situation with portability, because the 5742384G5 weighs 2.6kg and measures 34mm thick, 253mm deep and 381mm wide.
